well at the moment my son has lumps on his neck and shoulders. I think they are insect bites but he's having an allergic reaction to them as they are very red. He's having antihistamine syrup (tablets would work just as well) at night and cream (Boots insect bite cream) during the day. The only way I know of to see if it is an allergy is to try the piriton and see if it goes down or not. If not and you're still worried you see the doctor and give them the history.

Hi vvvvvvv. Sorry I dont know if this is of any use or medical relivance. Dont know much about imptigo just eczema. I just recall our doctor talking to us after dd had had steriod tablets because of an asthma attack. It had improved her eczema/skin greatly and was the topic of conversation. I just recal her saying that in special circumstances they can provide steriod tablets for this reason short term for eg special occassions? May be worth asking if it would be the case with you problem.
