If your first baby had allergies, did your second one too?

Hi,

My DS had allergies and I am worried my second baby will have allergies too. Has anyone been in this situation? Did you BF or FF your babies? How did you manage?

Forgot to say - DD1 was fine with dairy by 2!

Hathen, my ds2 had multiple severe allergies from birth. Please look into probiotics for all involved - it reduces the average age they grow out of it. Also see the EAT study which is still quite new and requires exposing high risk children early (weaning at 3 months). My dc3 had all the early signs (tho not as severe as ds2), and they disappeared after doing this for 6 months. I swear it made the difference

Dd1 was born by c section, was exclusively bf until 6 months when she tried solids, but continued to be breastfed until she was 2.5. She is anaphylactic to milk, peanuts and allergic to egg.

Dd2 was born naturally and was exclusively by until 6 months when she tried solids, but by until 2.5. She had formula when I was work from about 9 months as I couldn't express enough for her. No allergies that we know of though she hasn't had nuts yet. Lots of may contains but we need to get the courage to give her actual nut products.

The DS don't seem to have developed any allergies (keeping everything crossed as some of mine didn't appear till my 20s) but me and my DSister both do. I was ff and have CMPA, still can't stomach anything milk related now. DS can stand some dairy but has eczema if she eats too much. She also has hayfever and chronic asthma. She was BF for 6 months but would have been weaned early by today's standards.

Reading with interest. DD has CMPI. Now pregnant with no 2 and hoping it will not be repeated second time around.

Twins - one has allergies, one doesn't. Both breastfed. Baffles specialists - just shows it's not always what happens in the womb / at birth!
