Top tip for ezcema / itchy rash sufferers!

I'm so happy to report that after a few hours last night researching into past threads about ezcema, I discovered a thread a year ago by some women who recommended a cream for ezcema sufferers. My 10 month old HAD a really itchy rash / ezcema on his torso and within an hour of using AVEENO moisturiser, he stopped scratching!! I've been to doctors and a dermotologist and they haven't been able to give me this success!! It's not cheap so ask your NHS doctor to give you a perscription and you'll get it free. LAST NIGHT WAS OUR FIRST SOLID 12 HOUR SLEEP IN 4 MONTHS!! YIPPPPYYYYYYY!!!

that is great Georgia - I have been getting aveeno on prescription for my dds for ages and lots of other people have mentioned it on mumsnet - really glad you have finally found something which works!!!!

Its such a relief isn't it! Aveeno works for us too although now Ds is 20 months he hardly needs any. This time last year we had to put it on morning and night. So you never know, your DS may grow out of it eventually.

Another Aveeno fan here, we were given it by the GP last week.

Johnson and Johnson do also do a very nice olive leave super-moisturiser, which we've found quite effective, plus it smells nicer than Aveeno

I too found out about Aveeno on mumsnet and it was a lifesaver for us. My dd's eczema would clear up in hours with it! I got it on prescription....we used a tube a week and it's expensive!!.
Good news is that my dd actually outgrew her eczema around 2.5!!! Hooray.

Oh, i'm interested! Anything to help eczema is well worth a try.

Is is a moisturiser or does it contain hydrocortisone or similar?

I seem to remember Aveeno from a dim and distant past...has it got oats or something in it? I may be thinking of something else.

PS. Does anyone have any top tips for helping stop the eczema itch after swimming? My two love swimming but afterwards its just a nightmare.

it does have oats in it - very good for skin complaints. With regard to the swimming thing,you could moisturise your kids before they get into the water. This will coat their skin and protect it better, although the disadvantage is that they might get a bit slippery which could be hazardous.

it doesn't have any hydrocortisone btw - all natural!

Thank you donnie, it sounds like I need some aveeno pronto! I'll make an appointment for the GP. It's such a shame about the swimming because they love it so I'm not going to give it up unless their skin gets too bad, then give it a rest. My ds has swimming at school on Wednesdays, so today his skin was wrecked again. I shall check if the school is showering him after swimming.

It's so nice to hear of success stories with eczema - it's such a horrible complaint, I hate it (am sure the children would definitely agree).
