Dd has a rash on face since Friday carneval make-up

We had carneval here in germany so dd was a vampire with a white face and blood dripping down her chin! I used Ikea kids make up for carneval and she washed it all off properly on friday, but on Saterday she got red cheeks and they itch and still no beter today so it's a job getting her not to scratch.
In the pharmacy they suggested putting mild cortisone cream on her face. Any one know of any other things I could use to calm the rash on such a fragile place? I'm not so sure about putting cortisone on her cheeks.

I would suggest use anything containing tea tree. I am a face painetr and I think if you use any water based paints they should be okay. I also dont mind my DD getting face painted becaiuse she always scrubs her face properly afterwards

They were water based but quite cheap from Ikea so looks like dd has a sensitive skin, will try tea tree, maybe dilute it somehow as pure tea tree oil is quite strong.

I use tea tree cream. Avon even do quite a good tea tree cream

Dd still has a rash today. Yesterday I tried cammomile in water with a drop of tea tree oil in and bathed her cheeks in it about 3 times in all but didn't seem to help.

Wretb wipes are the thing for removing for it, tea tree too strong- rips out the natural oils undiluted

aqueous cream (from pharmacy) is as pure an emolient (moisturiser basically) as you can get, and cheap too.

It may be that she was allergic to the make up- next time, I would keep aqueous cream handy in case, and use that to remove the make up as you can do that and it is by far the best for sensitive skins

Never heard of aqueous cream, would a literal translation get me the right thing in a german pharmacy or is there a brand name I could ask for? In an hours time I pick her up from school and would go straight to the pharmacy so it would be good if I knew what to ask for. I have to try and get rid of the redness , it looks so painfull poor thing.

Probably it would actually- aqueous just means water based cream, its the most basic additive free emolient used in eczma etc (and very very cheap)
its the (I think) latin term and I think most pharmacists would be familar with it

Or put a shout out for any german mums on here who can translate?

don't know what has happened here - I posted a completley different message about asking for an antihistamine cream.

ask for a cream containing Chlorpheniramine (piriton's generic name) if they have it. That's the fastest acting antihistamine. I buy a bite relief cream that contains an antihistamine.

If not this is a list of ingredients from one acqueous cream

The cream contains Emulsifying Ointment (30%) w/w the constituents of which are:- Cetostearyl alcohol 8.1% w/w, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate 0.9% w/w, Liquid Paraffin 6% w/w, White Soft Paraffin 15% w/w. Also contains phenoxyethanol 1% w/w and purified water.

Sodium Lauryl sulphate can cause problems, the paraffin is probably what helps.

Thanks tatt, will try tomorrow to get that antihistamine. I tried to get something at the pharmacy after school and they wouldn't even sell me anything, said to go to the doc but they were closed on Wednesday afternoon and the next nearest doctor wouldn't take us as new patients. Honestly, feel like I'm not even in the civilized world sometimes in Germany. Poor dd says she feels embarrassed about her red face and everyone keeps asking her what it is at school.

If you have any liquid antihistamine you could try giving that. Sometimes its in cough mixtures here.
