Facial dermatitis, can anyone recommend products?

I've recently developed what's otherwise known as a muzzle rash, it's awful. Really red around my mouth and under my eyes. I can't pinpoint what's started it but think I'll need to be careful what I use on my face now. SLS seems to be a major factor in dermatitis.

try not to use anything - just warm water and a clean flannel with a really plain moisturiser

I have skin allergies on my face, and find it's best to use as few products as possible. Sometimes I've been using a product without any problems and then suddenly it's no good any more. Can you take antihistamines? If so you might be able to identify what triggers the reaction, or at the very least minimise it if you use a product that turns out to be wrong for you. It's ridiculous, but the best thing for my skin is to take antihistamines! ATM I'm using Olay products - I think it's the Total Care for Sensitive Skins range with factor 15 sunscreen. Sunlight is one of the worst triggers for me. I only wash my face with tepid or warm water, nothing else, and then moisturise. If I need to cleanse then I use Olay Daily Facials - they're wipes impregnated with cleanser that you wet and use like a face flannel. And then I moisturise as well of course. I want to get a water softener installed, as my skin is so much better when we stay in places with soft water, unlike our local hard stuff.

Wash with plain water.
I tried Aapri daily moisturiser (from Savers, etc) and Asda own brand anti-ageing night cream (£2.99ish) for mine, and found they worked really well

The doc gave me a cream called

Emovate Crema

as I have patches of excema on my eye lids

Thanks for your replies, so do any of you wear make up? I have been as it's so bright red it's embarassing

I don'y wear make up in general, but find that if I do it doesn't seem to affect my skin, unless I'm already having a reaction. Have you tired antihistamines?

hi prettycandles, I just bought some today and have taken one so I'll see how they go. hope it works as I'm really embarassed by it.

I find that if I wear make up it cakes and shows up the flaky skin worse, so I tend not to.
I prefer to moisturise a lot and try to get the red to go that way.
A tinted moisturiser, or mixing a foundation with your moisturiser might help you

Mine isn't dry though just really red. It does cover ok but I think I'll try to find some concealer without additives.

The only foundation I can use is the Maybelline mousse.

SOS Rescue Cream is an amazing and 100% natural product which might help. I use it on my son's eczema related rash and it really helps. It's really expensive though. You can buy it from any good health shop or from the producers directly (Barefoot Botanical). Good luck
