Pregnant with Coeliac Disease

Hiya, sorry if this question is elsewhere!! I searched but couldn't find it anywhere...
I got diagnosed with Coeliacs at the beginning of the year and fell pregnant in June (so I'm 15wks) and I've been trying to adjust the best I can to my new lifestyle. However, on a couple of occasions I've accidentally been exposed to Gluten. For example I had some Ginger Beer just now which I didn't realise had Malted Barley in it :(
Will this harm my baby or just me?

Just to note: I am at very early stages of Coeliacs. My endoscopy came back negative but my bloods came back positive so my consultant has said my damage hasn't yet reached my gut so I it might be that I don't get any noticeable symptom but it still worries me that this can hurt my baby?

Can anyone give me any info? My midwife is fab but she's not a specialist on Coeliac and trying to get through to the hospital is like thing to contact the pope!!

Thanks Grin

Surely it would affect just you and not the baby.

I'd like to think so - as I can deal with being in a bit of pain but would hate to think my baby feels it too! Confused

Hi OP don't worry it will not affect your baby only you, try some soothing peppermint tea if you need to sooth your gut

However once baby is born make sure your health visitor is aware of your coeliac status for future weaning advice of baby

You may want to contact coeliac U.K. Who can give you lots of support and advice

That's a really good call. I'm a member of Coeliac UK actually but it never crossed my mind to chat to them!! Thank you x
