3 month old snorting and can't breathe but no cold - allergy?

Can anyone advise? My three month old often refuses the breast because she can't breathe - she snorts and breathes really heavily sometimes. I end up giving her formula as she finds it easier to feed when she's sitting up but I wonder if it's making things worse through possible cows milk intolerance? She also wakes up four or five times a night which I think is when her breathing gets worse.

She definitely doesn't have a cold - there's no mucus. I've tried a humidifier, decongestant vapour, all sorts and nothing works.

I would bf exclusively except that I can't express enough to feed her sitting up (I expressed four times yesterday and got an ounce and a half altogether!)

I wondered if a hypoallergenic milk would help but my gp was very vague...

you might want to post this in the breastfeeding bit.

is your let down very quick?

did the GP do a thorough check up on her?

Agree about posting under the breastfeeding topic, it might attract more helpful advice. When she breaths in her sleep does it sound as Darth Vader? Not trying to joke about it but your description seems reminiscent to a condition DS had as a baby and wonder if it may be the same

thanks for the responses. She doesn't really seem to make that much noise at night. She just snorts and snuffles all day. No idea what's going on but it's been like this for six weeks now.

What was your son's condition Chandra?
