My ds has dairy egg and peanut allergies, bad ezcema from 4 weeks old although clear now. However he has always had very very bad flaky scalp. I have never used shampoo on his head (likewise soaps etc) on skin, but wondered if anyone had any ideas on how to get rid of the scalp problem. Washing his hair is bad enough at the best of times so something not too stinky etc. would be great.

Many thanks for any ideas.

Could you give him a scalp massage with olive oil? Then wash it out with something like This? They also do an oil in that range if your interested. All natural and organic.

It sounds like he could have cradle cap. My ds has it also. Nothing i've tried has worked to get rid of it (olive oil, Neal's Yard oils, mild organic shampoo, Detinox - a specific shampoo for cradle cap). I lifted the scales once they were softened by the oils but they came back. I've left it alone now to let nature take its course as apparently it's very natural for alot of babies to get this and it goes with time and as their hormones kick in. Apparently Nizoral (sp) is a dandruff shampoo which one of the mothers on this website said helped cleared her son's cradle cap. But i haven't tried it as i don't want to overload my ds's skin with anymore products. There's lots of information online (www.babycentre.co.uk, www.ivillage.co.uk) about cradle cap to help you understand it better and see if it's what your son's got and then you can act accordingly. Hope it helps.
