does this mean have to steer clear of all egg?

My son has just had RAST test and it has found egg allergy. I know when he did have yolk from an egg 6 mths ago his eczema went really bad. Since then I has had bread from bread maker with egg in with no obvious action. It is my eldests birthday soon and wanted to try and make a birthday cake (dont hold your breath) - I have to have a nut and sesame free one but other than that wanted to one we could all enjoy?

egg allergies affect immunizations too, check with your doc B4 getting any more...

My son is allergic to egg. He reacts slowly and has a reaction about 1.5-2 hours after he has eaten somethinkg with egg in it. Even one mouthful of cake makes him ill.

He had a soya allergy when he was younger - and for ages I didn't realise soya was in supermarket bread although I avoided it in everything else. Once I realised this and cut it out the exzema disappeared overnight.

Just wondering if the same might happen for your DS

I think it's a hard question to answer without knowing why you went for the tests in the first place.

If you went because he's been very poorly and reacting badly, then I would say it would be sensible to avoid all egg.

My dd had an egg allergy (that she outgrew) and the paed always said to us that SOME children have an egg allergy but can tolerate egg cooked in things (so say biscuits, cakes). But that doesn't go for every child.

I think you'll have to use your common sense - obviously in your position I would avoid egg (on its own) or anything with raw egg (so raw cake mixture, some icing) and things that have lots of egg white in like meringue. BUT if you think he can manage the odd thing with cooked egg in, then I can't see any harm in letting him have it as long as you feel it isn't affecting him.

We had no problems with any vaccinations (even the ones cultured in egg) - I think someone said on here that they don't make the MMR this way any more (but I would check) and even then, we were told the allergy had to be severe for it to make a difference.
