Christmas desert for coeliacs

Anyone know of any decent ones?

Xmas day just DP, 4 month old DS and but DP doesn't like puddings of any type
mental I know so just me eating it.

Family inc coeliac mum and sister coming Boxing Day for buffet type food (heeeelllooo M&S)
I wanted to get a nice, preferably chocolate based pudding that I could have Xmas day and then again with mum and sis Boxing Day.

Backup plan is the Dove Farm GF brownies but just wondered if something ready made existed.....

Aha, I am the person to ask, since I am catering Xmas dinner entirely gluten-free (two of my DC are coeliac).

We are having gluten-free Christmas pudding from Ocado (they are quite small, so I have bought four And we are having three different gluten-free desserts from COOK, one a lovely chocolate and raspberry roulade which we have every year. Is there a branch near you? They also do nationwide delivery.

We have also conducted an extensive gluten-free mince pie tasting, and the best ones are from M&S - sadly now out of stock in my local branch, but you might be luckier.

I also have a yummy recipe for gf panettone which I can dig out if you need it. I am planning to make that and have it with ice cream and berries (defrosted frozen ones).

Other nice chocolatey gf desserts are the chocolate torte from Abel & Cole, if anyone you know orders from them, and also the Clive's chock-mocha cutting cake, also from Ocado. I also really like the Lovemore chocolate brownies (also available in Ocado).

I'm in awe of your GF pudding knowledge!!

In the last 3 years I have become an expert! First year of kids being gf, I exhausted myself baking and making everything from scratch - now I have worked out where the good shortcuts are!

It's such a pain! We've had it in our family for the past ten or so years now. Taking our own gravy granules to a restaurant is standard behaviour

And when people don't "eat wheat" just for the fun of it, or for some kind of weird diet not because they actually physically can't eat it, I want to chuck a doughnut at them

Ha, I don't mind non-wheat eaters, since if it wasn't for them, there'd be far fewer places providing gf food. And the only house where DS1 is invited for tea is the house where the parents don't eat wheat for lifestyle reasons. It makes me very happy that there's somewhere he can go and eat tea with another family, such a normal activity but others are scared of feeding him.

I don't find it awkward at all at home (home is totally gf to avoid worrying about contamination). But it is more tricky on holiday. We went to Disneyland Paris for 3 nights in the summer - with an entire suitcase full of food (needed - DLP is crap at gf).

Meringue is an easy gf dessert - either made, or most bought ones are gf (always check the ingredients carefully though). COOK has some non-chocolatey roulades as well.

Ok, I can see how that's handy for your DS. Here's hoping he stays friends with the wheat free family!

Sainsburys have some nice things in their free from range at the moment.

Pavlova is really nice gf dessert and really simple, sugar and egg whites for meringue, whipped cream and your choice of fruit to top. However what I really miss is decent gf cheesecake! Anyone know a good place to get cheesecake or a good recipe?

It's not for silly reasons cupcakes; Dh is a different person when he's not eating wheat; he doesn't get exhausted or get a big fat bloaty belly !!!

And best of all he stays much calmer. I feel for you though it's in every effing thing

Nigella's flourless brownies are great, just watch your chocolate - Aldis is GF. Or a choc mouse cake is always good.

Thankfully my mum (who's the coeliac one) makes her own Christmas pudding so that's sorted.

Meringues are GF, or you could make pavlova or eton mess? Or I buy marks GF sponge and make trifle. Creme brulee?

Delia Smiths's flourless squidgy chocolate log is fabulous and quite easy to make too.
