Has anyone tried probiotic powder supplements to help with children's eczema? Anyone got any positive experiences? Or is it all nonsense?

TIA

Dr Adam Fox said that he would give his own atopic child probiotics.

I give my daughter who has eczema and multiple food allergies probiotics. No idea if it does anything. I used optibac powders when she was a baby and now give her kidzbiotic tablets. I am pregnant again and am taking probiotics myself. Who knows, but there is some evidence and they are harmless aside from the expense.

There have been a number of studies reports recently linking allergies and gut imbalances, I think probiotics can help. When my DS had issues, I give probiotics. Read Dr Cambell McBride, Gut and the Psychology Syndrome from an overall health perspective rather than just an ADHD perspective, it makes interesting reading. Look for dairy / gluten free probiotics with no fillers and if you think gut health is an issue, it is worth considering limiting sugar and yeast.

Thank you all for the responses - that's really useful. I think I'll give them a try, although I have no idea which ones to go for, and they seem crazily expensive...

Thanks again.
