Nut free birthday cakes

Soooo annoying trying to get a shop bought birthday cake for DS. I know there is a company that makes nut free cakes but can't find them in either Asda or Sainsburys.

Don't ask me to bake one as am rubbish at cakes. Looked into having one made bit refuse to pay £40 for a kids party cake that they probably won't eat.

Looks like Ds will have to have a separate cake for himself!

What do others do? I really wanted the M and S chocolate birthday cakes as it is lovely for bought cake but is not guaranteed nut free.

Thanks for the links. The Baking boys ones are just cupcakes but nice to know they are there. Have had the other cakes before I think. No Spiderman cake though, god help me!

I think I am ranting more at the shoddy and lazy labelling of the supermarkets.

Try getting an egg and nut free spiderman cake.... that's my problem!!!

pashmina696 - only option is to back an egg free cake then add a cake topper (can buy them from ebay) they are egg and nut free too x

I bake my own, and it is really easy

This is what you do
Grease and base line 2 x 7" sandwich tins. Preheat your oven to gas mark 4 (fan 160 deg)

Then, in a bowl put:
3 large eggs
6 oz Stork margarine
6 oz caster sugar
6 oz self raising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

Mix together until well combined - do not overmix. Divide between the two tins and bake for 25 minutes on the centre shelf of the oven.
When cooked remove from the oven and leave in the tins for 5 minutes, then turn out onto a cooling rack and leave to cool completely.

Decorate with whatever icing you like. When DD was little I used buttercream and decorated with sweets.

This recipe is foolproof.
