Is this an allergy ??

my ds has had red blisters around his mouth all day he is not teething and only has a dummy for bed. Sometimes it looks worse and even spread over his face it does clear slightly with piriton but comes back worse than ever. Just put him to bed but blisters still there

does it clear up when he hasnt had dummy for a while? is he a dribbly child?

He is an allergic child but this is strange just been to check on him and one side of his face is now all red and the blisters are all still there!

the red on one side sounds like teeth?
is the blistering worse if its wet?

has he had new toy or comforter one of mine used to get rashy from sucking silk edging on cot cover

There are so many things that can cause the rash. I remember you mentioned your DS had many allergies. Does any of his other allergies bring rashes to his face?

just asking because we have seen DS reacts to other things in the "family" of his normal allergens. (ie. react to beans and soya, as an extension of his peanut allergy).

It depends some do it was just bothering me that it wont go away the blisters are all around his mouth but the redness is just on one side. He haas got all his baby teeth its been really itchy too. Probably just one of them unexplainable things. He usually gets nettle rash and breathing problems with his allergies.

I would suggest to write down all what you did before the rash appeared, what he ate yeaterday, where you went, was it hot in his room at night?, did you change the washing powder (DS had a bad asthma attack once... because I didn't wash his new bedding before using it ), has the dummy being in contact with something different?.

I think it will be difficult to know but, if the same happens again, at least you will have a list of possible offenders that you can eliminate from.

Thanks just been to check still there but no worse just worried cos he does have unexplained anaphylaxis but its beyond that time limit now

is there any blistering on his palms or feet?
i ask this because im a mum and childminder i have seen simalar it was a viral infection and quite nasty..

Not spoke to hospital if its still like it in morning might have a trip to a&e

Oh yeah turns out my consultant for his asthma is also allergy specialist and apparently quite a good one still unwilling to do skin prick but said if i find a strong link between rash and food then they will do rast test.

Mine was meant to be good... although I stopped trusting him when he said "but what's the problem with being allergic to soya, how much foods with soya could he have?" I felt like kidnapping him and let him loose in a supermarket with a shopping list so he could appreciate that soya is omniprescent!

allergic kids get other things too so I'd look at hand foot and mouth or chickenpox. Forgot to say on the other thread that after I put mine on probiotics allergic reactions have disappeared - only had one when I forgot them. Whether that is the probiotics or us becoming better at avoiding allergens I don't know but I'm not forgetting the probiotics again

just got back from a&e ds had bad allergic reaction this morning which we treated at home then this afternoon had what the doctor called a rebound reaction poor little soal he looked awful All better now just left with panda eyes.
Doctor at a&e said he would recomend some kind of allergy tests! i just seem to be going round in circles

I'm not going to say it again... but that consultant of yours is a twat. If your DS is having anaphylactic reactions (as you said in your other thread) he NEEDS to be tested. The tests are far less dangerous (if at all dangerous) than learning by trial and error. If I were in your shoes I would follow the advice of the A&E doctors. They have seen the strenght of the reaction while someway I think your GP is taking the ...

Our next appointment isn't till october and hopefully this time something will be done my normal consultant was off sick last time so i'll see what he says hopefully he will do something.
Chandra how did you find out your ds was allergic and hoe old was he.
