I went to a new doctor today and was prescribed an oestrogen cream to help with post partum healing. As always, I mentioned my very severe peanut allergy when asked. Just before I applied it, on a whim I decided to check the ingredients. Peanut oil. I am a lone parent and baby DS is in his cot. I am having a bit of a Bridget Jones style eaten-by-Alsatians moment. No one would have missed me until Tuesday. :s

Gosh! Can imagine how scary that was! A really close shave, how lucky you checked. Dh works away a lot and it does really worry me how long it would take people to realise if something happened to me.

Very scary for you! Do let the doctor know his mistake, he/she should learn from it.

My friend was advised the MMR when she was pregnant, although they knew of her severe egg allergy and it was only her mum looking on the internet that discovered it was not recommended for people allergic to eggs. I dread to think what would have happened if she had not thought twice about it.

Jesus! very close. Thank god you read the ingredients.
Yes to telling the Dr he could have fecking killed you he made a huge mistake.

Glad you're ok :)

Blimey OP that was too close - I would complain to your GP Practice and also to the dispensing pharmacy.

Solasum · 02/05/2014 22:02

! I am horrified by your friend's run-in Boo, a somewhat obscure cream is one thing, but Surely a vaccine is 'normal' enough that anyone prescribing should just know about potential alkergens?!
