Hi, DS(5 months) has a red rash around his neck and onto his chest. It looks like eczema but doesn't clear up with moisturiser, or the steroid, anti-bacterial creams and antibiotic creams the doctor has prescribed. It's really itching and we sometimes have to put mittens on him to stop him scratching(which make him look like a tiny boxer ). He is still totally breastfed, could it be something i'm eating which he's intolerant to? I already avoid milk in case it's this, don't really eat much dairy otherwise, should i cut out wheat too? Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks, sorry for the huge list of questions!

(*antibiotics not antibiotic creams...)

It sounds like a fungal infection to me it's common on their necks as this area gets quite damp. Try canestan cream.

what do you put round his neck - a bib, maybe? I'd suspect biological soap powder first and only go onto other things later.

my ds had that and it was horrible. gp said it was thrush and it did go away when he was given nystatin orally, so perhaps you could try that?
