My mum is coeliac. Not dx til she was 64 however after years of tummy trouble.
I am pretty sure I am wheat/gluten intolerant - feel much better when I do to eat it. I had he blood test for coeliac when mum was dx but it was negative. I have heard that the test isnt very sensitive though?
I have had GERD since I was pg with my youngest son 6 years ago :( and have been on various meds since then. Am currently on Zantac 300mg at night.
I had an endoscopy 3.5 years ago and it was normal but I have just been dx with gastritis and they want me have a camera down again :(
I think I can get it done on Dhs private health ins but would they do a biopsy for coeliac whilst they are in there so to speak?
I am pretty worried about it all tbh.

I think you should definitely push for a biopsy but you will need to be eating gluten regularly for at least 6 weeks before the test for it to be accurate.

I was diagnosed in similar circumstances. Had chronic GERD and a pain in my side. I went to the GP every month for a year without much success.

I then presenting with chest pain and difficulty swallowing and was referred for an endoscopy. I went privately for speed and was diagnosed with gastritis, oesophagitis and coeliac disease.

They routinely biopsy during an endoscopy and it was a complete surprise. You must be eating gluten before hand though or it will be inaccurate.

You can develop coeliac at any point in your life, so having a negative result once doesn't mean you should never test again.

Have you had the test? What happened?

Were you eating gluten before the blood test?

Fwiw my first blood test came back negative, thankfully GP was so convinced that I had coeliac disease that she sent me for biopsy anyway. Confirmed I had it.
