have just realised how bad dd1 reaction was aty the weekend.

have been at the school fete today. had to turn down lots of prizes of sweets due to food colourings. had to read the labels on the juice bottle, had to read every label of food stuff she got given or offered. had to say no to face painting.

this is going to be hard isnt it?

Yes, the first weeks are the worse, but afterwards checking everything becomes second nature and... then you end up realisng that there's a positve point in all this nightmare, that your family is eating healthier food all the time.

its things like when a child has abirthday at school, twice last week dd1 has had to say no to the sweets at the door on the way out. so next term i will be giving the teacher a big bag of mini buttons and asking her to give dd1 thoser when birthday treats are being giving out. dd1 is now refusing all drinks except clear lemonade, water and milk. she did have some squash athe weekend but said she was scared in case it made her lips fat.

It's so sad that they have to be so grown up about it. Good idea about leaving a bag of buttons with the teacher so she doesn't feel left out.

Misdee, somebody suggested here to have a bag of safe sweets at home and exchange them for the ones your DD can't have. I have done it with DS and it's working fine, now... when I feel so depressed about the whole issue I just open the bag, hand him the toys and while he is not looking I remove all the things he can't have.(which is mostly everything, cake inclusive)
