Cows milk intolerance - Nutramigen 1 or 2 - what's the diff??

DD (4 1/2 months) has cows milk protein intolerance, but we're still waiting for hospital appointment to officially confirm this, and until we have it GP won't give us formula on prescription.

DD refuses to take a bottle or cup, in fact anything other than my breast, at present, so I need something that I can put in a bottle to try every day to get her to take one. Expressing just isn't an option as she feeds very frequently and doesn't sleep much, so I don't have time or milk spare to do this.

Can't find a pharmacy that stocks Nutramigen (hydrolysed formula), but one said today that they would order it in if I told them whether I wanted Nutramigen 1 or Nutramigen 2. I have no bloody idea and he couldn't tell me anything about the difference.

Anyone got any idea so that I can get some ordered. Am desperate to get her onto a bottle at night to try and fill her up more, as she has me up 4 or 5 times a night most nights, and it's gradually wearing me down.

Hiya, I would say that you need Nutramigen 1 think this is 1st stage 0-6 months then Nutramigen 2 - 6-24 months 2nd Stage.

Thank you! Will order some .

Hi CSWS

Good to see your dd is doing well on breastmilk. I just realised I have 4 cans of Nutramigen left over from when we unsucessful tried dd on it. If you want some I can send it to you, just let me know.

Just a word of warning, nutramigen tastes horrible so your dd might refuse it, and you might actually save yourself some frustration if you try EBM. Also, formula doesn't necessarily = sleeping longer.

Take care

Oh CADS that's really kind of you - could I just have one tin as that is likely to last until we get her own prescription sorted. Will CAT you my details, and will obviously pay for postage if you have paypal or give me your bank details.

I figure formula may not necessarily = sleeping longer, but it can't really = sleeping less!!

Amazingly, DD did sleep through 8-7 one night early last week, but the ray of hope disappeared as quickly as it arrived!

Oh, you don't accept CATS!

Hi

Have just finished changing my CAT details, so it should be fine now.

If you CAT me your details tonight I will post it sometime tomorrow and let you know how much the postage is. We do have a paypal account so I will let you know once I get all the info from dh.

By the way, the can is only 400g. If you need anymore let me know because I'm suck with these cans and would hate to throw it away.

Bye

Sorry missed you last night - was on way to bed! Have sent you a CAT now, so hopefully they will forward it quickly. Thanks
