Dds want a pet. Fish weren t cuddly enough apparently. They are definitely allergic to cats and dogs. Does that mean a guinea pig is unthinkable too then does anyone know?

2 members of my family are allergic to cats and dogs but wee fine with our guineas for 7 years, so it's not definitely going to be a problem. Do you know anyone with guinea pigs who would let your girls handle them, or who would appreciate some holiday care this summer so you can find out?

were fine

I think I could try and find some. Good idea. I also wondered if some were better than others and if so, why?

I don't know, I guess if you knew the hair to be a problem then you could go for the aberration of nature that is the skinny pig Shock.

We've been recommended bloomin' labradoodles by loads of people as we'd love a dog and people assume they're hypoallergenic, but DH used to react to my parents' poodles, so it was presumably the skin dander rather than the hair that was the problem. Otherwise we'd probably have a poodle. You really need to handle/bury your face in any animal you would like to own to be sure I think.

I'm awful with all of them. But if they live outside it's easier.

eragon · 02/07/2013 11:21

we have a rabbit, its outside in garden. 3 /6 of us has some form of reaction to rabbit. symptoms worse if brought indoors, and so it stays in garden!

it works for us.

with high dog and cat allergies we cant ever have any of those.

Most allergies to pets/animals are to the dander rather than the hair.
