Hayfever remedies whilst breastfeeding

Not sure if this post belongs here or in the breastfeeding section...

...my hayfever has kicked off. I am suffering big style- throat, nose, sinus, ears, eyes...the whole works. I called my ENT doctor, and asked what I can take as I am still breastfeeding DD. He suggested I wean her, as all the usual meds end up in the milk.

I cannot be the first mother to be in this situation. What works?

I'm not sure how effective you'll find it, but locally produced honey may help.

nasel sprays?

did yr doc go over what side effects with antihistamine?

what non drug steps are you taking to relieve symptoms.

local honey is a bit of myth really, so i wouldnt bother imo.

Prevalin nasal spray is safe and I've found it reasonably effective. Amazon had 3 for about £13 which was much better than Boots 1 for £9.99!

This from Breastfeeding Network - they have a dedicated pharmacist who searches for which drugs you can take when breastfeeding. If you can't find the drug you want on the list, they have a helpline number.
