Piriton in hand luggage on flight

We are flying with easyjet in the summer. Does anyone know if they are okay with piriton in hand luggage if you have a doctors letter?

I'm sure it will be fine. DP always has heart tablets and painkillers in his hand luggage and takes his prescription with him in case anyone queries what they are. So far, though, no one ever has.

Liquid or tablets? Tablets fine, liquid might need prescription

It'll be fine. We've flown loads of times with liquid piriton. We did get asked to show our Doctor's letter in France, for the first time recently.

Yonitrix it's France we're going to! Better to ask doctor for letter then & if piriton has the prescription label hopefully will be ok!

I always have it dispensed into a small bottle for carrying about anyway, so generally I have a small bottle in medication bag in hand luggage.

If u ask at chemist for some small bottles they will give them to you.

So much easier than carrying a big bottle everywhere you go

Definitely get a drs letter. Easyjet made us chuck our bottle at Xmas despite our pleas. Never had a problem before - other than being made to swig it in front of them once... that was a nice mellow flight for mummy Wink so we hadn't bothered with a letter! Will do next time!

Your best bet is to decant an 'emergency' dose into a small plastic bottle for the flight and pack the larger bottle in your luggage. The problem is not the liquid it is the quantity.
We do carry a GP letter but also carry Epipens.

If worried, I used to decant into an emergency bottle like tinytalker suggests. But have flown at least twenty times with Ds and his piriton and never had any difficulties at airports. That said, I've never flown with easyjet! Didn't realise you could get small bottles from chemist!

Can you not get Piriton in sachets? If not I wish you could. I am humping a bottle round with me everywhere for DS at the moment. A couple of sachets would be great.

Seconding (thirding?) the small bottle advice. We decanted some piriton into a 100ml bottle and packed the big bottle in hand luggage. We got the small medicine bottle for free from Boots - just ask as they have a supply of them. You can also buy dispensing syringes for a few pence if you need them - our branch of Boots keeps them in a drawer so you wouldn't know they are available unless you ask.

Nelly there was a petition to get them to make piriton in sachets at one point, to no avail Sad.

I got some 5ml bottles from eBay and decanted single doses into them which is quite useful.

Thanks everyone. I decided to play safe & asked my gp for a letter which they had no problem issuing & also got small bottles from my local chemist & he put prescription label on them so think all bases covered Smile
