Cleanser for ezcema prone skin

I'm used to managing my DC's allergies and ezcema but am finding increasingly that I'm showing more and more atopic symptoms (proving as one particularly unhelpful paediatrician said once 'that it's my fault')

I'm having a bad eczema flare up (which is responding to what I usually do for the kids and some hydrocortisone) and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good facial cleanser / make up remover that works well and doesn't irritate?

I have tried so many for dry and sensitive skin - the REN one is good but pricey. Going to watch this thread hoping for more suggestions!

The only ones I've tried are the Oilatum Soap Bar and the E45 Cream wash. I find the oilatum bar better for cleaning as a traditional soap ie washing make up off, and I tend to use the E45 was more as a finishing wash if needed (if that makes sense). Just trial and error I think. I know vichy and la roche possay products are meant to be good but personally I've not tried them.
I do find my skin is better when I don't clean it or play with it unnecessarily ie, if no make up on when I'm not working then I only wash it in the morning in the shower.
Worth having a look on some websites and see if you can register for any free samples

Thanks trigger that makes a lot of sense. I think this particular flare up has come on because I tried to wear tinted moisturiser to smarten myself up after months of mat leave scruffiness :-)

I know for the kids the less of anything that goes on the better so it makes sense that should apply to me too. I'll try the oilatum bar first I think and will see if I can get some samples, like you say, it's so individual isn't it?

Thanks for replying though. It sounds silly but despite lots of experience of young ones' skin troubles, these adult issues (make up etc) have thrown me! Nice to know I'm not alone x

Yeah I think it is trial and error. I know friends who swear by Dermol but I didnt find that did anything at all for me. So I tend to stick with what I know works for me, but only as needed. I used to do the cleanse, tone, moisturise religiously. Not anymore, quick wash then apply cream, then only a little foundation and mascara if I'm working. I have ezcema on my eyelids and its so tempting to slather on cream there, but then it gets in to my eyes.
I use the E45 oil in the shower alot of the time, and then Cetraben from the doc for my body, I also use this on my face sometimes. I never used to be this bothered by it, but its getting worse as I get older. I am now so sensitive to things that never used to bother me. Nice smellies at xmas and birthdays are a thing of the past now :-(

I have skin like yours OP, and react very strongly to Vichy so don't try that Aveeno is good, and anything by neutrogena.

Cetaphil which you can buy from pharmacies works well for my mum who has had eczema for most of her adult life. Removes make up and doesn't cause or worsen flare-ups.

I use Lush products, the staff are very good at helping you select the right product for you. Between my eczema and a recurring crop of spots I alternate daily between their Angels on Bare Skin cleanser and their Fresh Farmacy soap/ cleanser. The lady did point out a cleanser that works as a very good make up remover but I don't recall which one.

Try Kiehl's Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover for eye and facial cleansing (wet skin, add, rinse). Kiehl's will accept returns and refund if you react. Trilogy also do this (use in same way as Kiehl's):

Rinse thoroughly and dry face well (I use organic cotton wool) as residues can cause issues.

I use Dermol 200 and it is great a doesn't sting or irritate even during a flare up.
