I saw it in few allergy related programs and am considering buying one as my dd and I both have asthma (mine is mostly dust)... Can anyone advise where I can get one? And who ever has one - are they any good?

we've got \link{http://www.vacuumcleaners4u.co.uk/details.php?pID=124&cID=\this} which is really nice to use; henrys were recommended to me and got this one with extra filter cos of dh's asthma

as to whether it works or not... I only vac once a flood so I'm not the best judge Grin

Try looking on the allergy foundations website at their listing of 'Seal of approval holders'

link{http://www.allergyuk.org/prod_soalist.html}

They have tried and tested a wide range of cleaners, those fitted with HEPA filters are usually better - but there's a wide range to suit all budgets. Really good web-site worth a browse!

Just thought of mentioning about Miele "Cat & Dog" and/or "Solution", they are not included in the list but are always recommended here by "allergic households" wink. We have had others with the hepa filter (Dyson and Moulinex), but none was remotely as good as the Miele. We could see (and hear) the difference immediatly, DS coughing stopped the same night we tried it!

MrsWood · 03/05/2006 21:57

Really? Where did you purchase yours from?

We got it from a local shop, but I'm sure that if you find Miele's home page they would have a list of providers for the UK. There are sometimes people selling them new and boxed in EBay. BTW they are also about 30% cheaper than Dyson, however they are built to last, Miele doesn't stop selling products for their vacuum cleaner models until 20 yrs after the model had been discontinued! (Best warrantyt of quality IMO Wink

we use a Sebo which works really well

calsworld · 04/05/2006 18:40

I have to agree with Chandra - we bought a Miele hoover and I've really noticed a difference, surprised its not on the link as I thought that's where I found it. I did loads of research before buying and temporarily subscribed to the Which! web-site, its free for about six weeks....anyway...my conclusions at the time were that the Miele was the top rated cylinder and the Sebo the top rated upright.

Euronics centres are 'discounted' chains that sell the Miele, I think they list all local stores on the website.

Either Comet or Currys (can't remember which) sell the dyson that has a hepa filter

we have a Vorwerk which are pretty expensive but we're very happy with it - think they have a website where you can buy direct. My mum originally bought one about 15 years ago when they first came out as she has severe allergy and lung related problems

calsworld · 04/05/2006 19:51

Might have to have a Vorwerk next time around just coz its got such a weird name! Cool. Grin
