Could DS be allergic to being hot?!

I know how strange this sounds but I was just wondering if anyone's ever heard of anything like this before?
DS is 15 months and for around 6 months has had an allergic reaction on adverage every 2 or 3 weeks. It usually involves him getting hives, usually on his face and chest and on 1 occasion his top lip and eyelid started to swell up.(That was after eating pesto though & he's going to have a blood test for a nut allregy)

On the other occasions there's not been anything else in common other than the fact that he's got hot. Is it even possible to be allergic to being hot?!

Are you sure the common factor isn't parmesan?
It sounds like my dd's parmesan reaction, which was originally triggered by pesto pasta!

My youngest had hives for over 6 months after a stomach bug. We never got to the bottom of it, but the GP thought it was probably a reaction to the bug.

Oh, that's interesting, I hadn't even thought that it could be Parmesan! I'll definitely look out for that. Although lots of the time his reactions aren't after he's been eating.
Also, he's having a blood test next week (he can't have the usual skin test because his eczema is too bad) & I've been told they won't test for anything other than nuts and wheat. Can I push for them to test for more things?

I had no idea you could get hives after a stomach bug either, thanks! I suppose that's possible too.

I suffer from urticaria caused by temperature change, usually from cold to hot so coming into a warm room from being outside causes me to swell up and become very itchy.
A daily anti-histamine keeps it under control. No idea what caused it to start but it didn't happen until I was 17. So it is a possibility.

Sounds like a food allergy.

If it was heat allergy (its possible to be allergic to the sun and your own sweat) then he'd be suffering under his arms, his head, behind his knees, his hands, his feet. All these places are hot.

My son is allergic to the cold, Im not looking forward to winter.

Write down everything he is eating. It may not be obvious but I bet theres a common denominator in all these things.

You're probably right. Although the reason I'm thinking it isn't food related is because most of the time it happens when he hasn't eaten for a while.

I went to the GP once with a rash - he said it was a heat rash because I had a fever so could it be a heat rash?

My DS has food allergies and eczema and often gets itchy when he gets hot, sometimes it's just his eczema flaring up but other times he gets hives. I think it's just because his skin is very sensitive, including to changes in temperature.

I have cholinergic urticaria which in simple terms is brought on in me by change of temperature (cold to hot)
That comes up on my face, neck, arms and torso worst. Never on my hands or feet and not as bad on my legs
