Piriton directly on hives? Is this coincedence?

Went for a drink this weekend during the day, DP's birthday. Got there and DS started having a reaction straight away. Big hives around his mouth, under is chin when they began travelling up his face over his eyes we quickly left. Drinks untouched, it all happened that quickly. I gave him piriton which he hates, its a battle we got about 2 mls in but spat out about 0.5. That went over his chin and under his neck.

Hives on him which he gets almost daily, take at least 15 minutes to go down. But 2-3 minutes after the spilled piriton and the hives it went over started to go down.

Fast forward to today and he began having a similar reaction hives under, around chin and side of face. I put piriton dirctly on two of the worst areas and again within 2 minutes it starts going down within 5 they've gone.

Is this coincidence?? I dont see how it could be?

And antihistamine cream exists, right?
