Constantly sneezing/itchy nose and red eyes

My 9 year old DS is constantly sniffing, itching his nose, sneezing. It seems to be worse in a morning when he gets up and early evening/bedtime.
He also has red, dry skin round one of his eyes that sometimes looks like bags under there or a black eye!
Went to the doctor, who said it was a cold. Hmm Which I pointed out was hardly likely as it was constant, and all the time. NOT a cold, to which he said it could be dust allergy.
When I asked if he could be tested for allergies as he's obviously allergic to things, he said they 'don't tend to do that.'
What would you do, what do you think it is? I've been giving him antihistamine which the doctor said he was fine to have, so I bought it and it does relieve symptoms so it's obviously allergy related.
Does anyone give antihistamine every day? Is anyone else's doctors as useless?! Grin

dustmite allergy.

which can be confirmed with a blood test. ask for RAST blood test with gp.

then start changing bedroom and take daily nightime antihistamine to cope, with nasel sprays.

BTW my son is on multiple antihistamines to control his environmental allergies and his auto immune oedema.

most multiple allergic people take daily year round antihistamines.
