is this a severe allergic reaction ????? kinda urgent

dd has had the most awful neck to ankle rash outbreak today from 4pm, like welts, on her face - thats died down, but elsewhere its a mix of welts and hives, she hasnt had anything diff to eat to day, milk would affect her but nothing like this.
i have put calamine lotion on her , she is scratching like mad, now asleep but fretful.

absolutely useless doc on call, said take to a & e, cant ds in bed and dh away.

any help appreciated
the rash is red shes 3 1/2

Find a way. Take to A & E. May be nothing. But may be serious. I'd rather go and be sure.

tbh i would be inclined to take her to the hospital. i saw a young lad about 5 being rushed into a and e with severe urticia and they had to bath him etc.

oh sh**, no no priton, i have dozol with as anti histamine in it. shes no temp.

take them both. sorry I know its a hassle. better safe than sorry. can you call someone to stay with ds or to meet you there are look after him or take him home while you wait with DD.

let us know how you get on? dd1 first skin reaction (head to toe welts) was awful. i took her straight to GP as was round the corner, they checked her over and told me to give her strong anti histimines. but said i was right to bring her in as it could affect her breathing. dd1 devoloped asthma later on, and some reactions now do affect her breathing.

My DD reacts similarly to yours misdee.

When DD has had something that affects her (used to be cows milk protein but largely gone now) or something with peanut traces she gets welts where it contacted her skin. She would also get wheezy.

mil told me she has had something like this 3 times since last november, tbh dh is alaways scratching his skin too, his mum has v sensitve skin.
she went ot doc and she said if it was still happening a month down line to come back and mil didnt put anyhting on it when it flared up.

she said the itching was intense.

and heat exacerbates it.
i just dont know what to do
might get dh to come home

how long di the cows milk thing last?

my dd had more than her average amunt of milk today, usually only morn and even but hasd it thry out day, surely its not that

my dd had a hives outbreak at about 18 months - never knew why. took her to A&E and they said v important to come in in case airway affected. they just gave her Piriton and told me to always have some on hand (it hasn't happened since, touch wood.

can your mil come over and babysit?

can you pop her into a cool-ish bath to relive the itching? add some bi-carb if you have it.

My DD is 2yrs 10 mths.

She had the milk protein allergy from birth and it eventually started to disappear at around 20-24 months. Her eczma is particularly bad if she has plain old milk to drink or has too many dairy products in a day.

She still has the peanut allergy. Only peanuts though and not other nuts - we had blood tests done to find out what allergies she had.

Babies usually do grow out of cows milk protein allergies.

That said, allergies can develop at ANY age so its worth getting it investigated. Smile Hope your DD is okay.

got hthe doc on call eventually, a very strong allergic reaction to something - i dont know what. as her diet was not different drastically on fri or sat,
but her face swelled , the itching was intense, all over her body, then her bum today,
anyway got antihistamine and cortisone 1% for her
and its helping.

all i can think of was a choc muffin on fri afternoon, they got a 1/4 of it as i was doing the shopping. maybe it was that?

going to changewashing powderover to ecover too.

oh they were playing in the corner press yesterday with almonds and pots. she says she didnt eat them, and i would be surprised if she did, very conservative madam regarding food, but maybe she did.

I'm sorry, I would be inclined to blame the nuts as the main suspect Sad, a reaction to nuts can also be triggered by skin contact, sorry.

Did you mention the almonds to the doctor?
