Non dairy cheese from supermarkets

Has anyone managed to get dairy free cheese from normal supermarkets recently? I used to see the redwood brand in Tesco or Asda (can't recall) but have recently searched high and low in both supermarkets and can't find any. Milk allergic DS really liked mac and cheese the one time he tried it but I can't find any cheese to make it again!

Wow! I've never seen it in any supermarkets. Try Holland and Barrett. I usually see it in their chiller. Otherwise they sell it online on the Redwood website, I think.

Tescos do their own free from cheese, I've not tried making cheese sauce with it but it was pretty yucky melted on toast! I can just about eat it in a sandwich, mind you I'm yet to find a cheese replacement that I like :o

Thanks for the tip. I went to a massive Tesco today. They had a whole aisle with chillers left and right dedicated to cheese but not a dairy free one in sight Is there really any need for 137 kinds of cheddar?

Same prob here. The tesco one (and their soft cheese style spreads and chilled non-dairy deserts) is/are utterly utterly rank, and I'm quite hardcore (ie like quinoa, tofu etc). Holland and Barrett is your best bet. Goodness direct (online) should in theory be good, but their delivery service is rubbish: their vans are not refrigerated (they just use a nomal yodel-style courier) so its hard to tell how long your chilled and frozen goods have been sitting in the warehouse. Any jars smashed and tins crushed (bad experience here). A massive shame, cos selection of goods is awsome.
