Is this a food intolerance/allergy reaction do you think?

In the past, sometimes when I have eaten fish or seafood I have had a light, no itchy blotchy rash on my neck, check and upper arms. But it has been and gone very quickly. And it isn't linked generally to anything in particularly, although seafood and smoked fish are more likely to cause it. But as the reaction is so gentle I don't pay any attention to it and generally forget until I have it happen again.

However, last night I came out in big red blothces all over my face and neck, and more blotches on my upper body. It is also really itchy. One eye is also red and bloodshot. This morning it looked even worse. By the time I got to work my make up was no longer covering it at all and the itching was driving me mad. I am still itchy and my face is still pretty bad, although the blotches have faded from my arms.

Only thing I can put it down to is seafood. On Saturday night I had prawn noodles. On Sunday at my parents I had prawns, mussels and smoked salmon. The left overs I took home and had on Monday lunch. Has to be this doesn't it? Is this a food intolerance proper then - do I need to avoid seafood? Is it ikely to get like this each time, or liekly to be a one off?

Can't find any antihistimines in the house. Didn't buy any on way home as was so sure we had piriton in the house. Hope it goes soon.

sounds like food allergy not food intolerance.
Which is different, go for the piriton, if it works, its classic food allergy.

good luck

poor u, is an allergy. u like seafood then?!!3 days on the trot. i hate it. have you got neighbours? a lot of people have anithistamine in the back of their cupboard. when my ds came out in hives after taking pencilin i didnt have any and put cold flannels on the rash, didnt really help just eased the itching, but if youre smothered init wont be much good. have you got a casulty local to you, must be unbearablely annoying

Thanks for replies.

Really annoying! So itchy. Think it is starting to improve, a bit, well on my body anyway. Well, maybe the wine I have had is dulling it a bit. My face is still very sore, and I am just generally itchy all over. Still can't find any piriton - must have got rid of it and forgot to replace it when we moved. I will get some tomorrow morning, first thing.

Wondering if it is worth going to see the GP. I am almost convinced that my heart issues are related to caffine - have cut it out almost entirely and no palpataions or racinf heart. And I am curious is some of my psorasis and excema could be a food intolerance maybe too. If I could get some allery tests done, might be useful.

Such a pain too as I adore seafood. Love it!

Already suggested that to DH!!!

Not sure it is the recommeded solution to sucha reaction, but better than nothing.

Face still blotchy but definitely fading this morning. Still itchy but not as bad. Slept well after my wine at least

Going to phone GP this morning to try and get a referral.

First appointment is 8:40am tomorrow, so going then. reaction will no doubt have gone entirely by then I guess, so they will have to take my word for it. Only want a referral anyway!
