My ds was diagnosed with cmpi and silent reflux at 8wks old, on ranitidine and neocate, when first diagnosed he had diahorrea, wouldn't drink his milk and cried constantly, dietician recomended now he's 1 to try him with fromage fraise, day 1- 1 spoonful, day 3- 2 spoonfulls day 5 - full fromage fraise, he seemed fine so day 6 gave him toast with a little butter, he started showing signs of silent reflux again, refusing all food and sick at bedtime, so he has had no dairy since, day 7 refusing food, up most of night crying and sick again, were in day 8 now- hes ate a little but had diahorea does it usually take a few days to show signs it's not agreeing with him? Was worried he had a bug or was teething but sleep deprivation is making me feel so unsure now, should I wait a week and try again? Dietician never gives me a straight answer it's always " those are signs so it's up to yourself"or "do what u think"just want someone to tell me what to do, any help would be great xx

Intolerance is different to allergy and often the symptoms of intolerance take longer to show themselves and it can therefore be harder to identify the cause (allergic reactions tend to be more immediate). Also, sometimes with an intolerance small amounts may not cause any symptoms at all but continued consumption of the food you are intolerant too will eventually cause the symptoms to return. It definitely sounds as though your DS is reacting to the milk and I would stop giving it to him immediately and go back on the Neocate.

Dietician finally returned my call yesterday saying she doesn't think this has anything to do with the milk, he is still being sick a week after stopping the dairy, she says it must be a bug and to try again in a few weeks ! Nightmare!
