Ummm there isn't gluten in milk, but if you're needing it dairy free too you can (I think) for gluten free, get some free from plain flour. They're not as nice as the real thing but they are edible (and taste ok smothered in sugar or jam)

Imnotaslimjim · 20/02/2012 18:04

Sorry, didn't see the also

[feels a wally now]

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 20/02/2012 18:04

Not sure on the dairy free front I'm afraid, but Doves Farm gluten free plain flour is a good substitute in all kinds of cooking. You might need a little more liquid though.

Alternatively, Buckwheat Flour (despite its name) is naturally gluten free and makes yummy pancakes.

FaintlyMacabre · 20/02/2012 18:13

I think Dove's farm gluten free plain flour makes nicer pancakes than wheat flour. Not sure about the milk though.

froggers1 · 20/02/2012 18:15

Hi we make them with the Dove's flour and rice milk. They don't taste any different to me!

vicarlady · 20/02/2012 18:15

I agree - Dove's Farm plain flour makes lovely pancakes. Not tried with soya or rice milk though.

CMOTDibbler · 20/02/2012 18:19

10 oz Doves farm plain flour, 1 pt milk, 2 eggs. Chuck in blender and blitz thoroughly. Leave for at least 20 minutes for the flour to absorb milk.

Should work fine with soy/rice milk.

DS loves pancakes, and I'm not making them if I can't eat them, so we have gf pancakes a lot. I don't think you can tell the difference

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 20/02/2012 18:27

brilliant - thanks.

Phew, glad you didn't take that badly, and that you've got the answer you need. Will have to try the recipe myself so I can have some with the kids tomorrow

bluesky · 20/02/2012 19:24

There is a pancake recipe that I'm going to do tomorrow, from a blog I follow:

theintolerantgourmet.squarespace.com/journal/2010/2/16/lemon-sugar-pancakes.html

I'll use my Doves Farm with rice milk.
