A research team based in Cambridge are looking at why some people outgrow it. They are looking for both for people who still have the allergy and those who have outgrown it. I don't know if they can study people who don't live near Cambridge but sometimes they can arrange for doctors elswhere to help. Contact details are Dr Andrew Clark, Addenbrookes tel 01223 762 603 or e-mail [email protected] Can give full address if anyone wants it.

saw that too, have already booked both mine in,we're going up at the end of the month.
It means I may find out if ds has outgrown his egg allergy yet, otherwise it would take years to get his allergy clinic to do a food challenge.

so you do have to travel to Cambridge then? Good ide to use it for a repeat test if your allergy clinic doesn't do them often.

yes we're travelling to cambridge.Tbh I don't mind contributing to any research that may help my son and others with allergies.

I have my hopes that he's outgrown his egg allergy,it would make things so much easier. He said they would retest every 6mos ! Fab as I only get an annual appt at ds allergy clinic.

Is it a food challenge test or some other method?

brimfull · 24/01/2006 22:03

yes its a food challenge if you still have an egg allergy, otherwise they do a blood test.
my dd will just have a blood test as she's outgrown the allergy.

and is it just for children or for adults aswell?

brimfull · 25/01/2006 19:36

thanks for letting us know about this

I emailed Dr Clark and apparently my daughter is suitable for the study - I haven't emailed them back yet but they say they are flexible on times and can do it in the school holidays (you do have to go to Cambridge). I am also pleased to contribute to any research that may, in the future, help to identify/resolve allergy issues.
