I nearly burst into tears in Sainsbury's this morning as they now do dairy and egg-free chocolate coins! I was so excited . . . DS1 is 11 and has never had chocolate coins in his stocking before.

Then I thought - someone's bound to tell me they've done them for years

So . . . what have you all managed to source for your allergic DCs this year?

I just got email from Goodness Direct that they have dairy & egg free chocolate advent calendar. Made by Moofree.

Goodness direct are also selling moofree chocolate santas - DS2 always looks longingly at the chocolate santas in sainsburys so I'm really excited to finally get him one.

Our moofree advent calendar arrived last week and it looks really good.

Waitrose are selling dairy free advent calendars (but the choc has soya in, whereas moofree is soya free).

Thanks for the tip about the chocolate coins.

I've got the MooFree calendar and chocolate Santa. Calendar looks good. Santa is flat and in a box (bit like the humdinger dairy free Easter bunny) so not the traditional shaped/hollow/foil-wrapped one if you see what I mean.

Fab, chocolate coins is definitely something for our list.

We did our own thing with advent calendar this year - DS2 wanted one like his brother, so I pulled the tray out, melted some dairyfree chocolate buttons, poured them in the moulds and then popped them back. One happy 3 year old!

I have just emailed Sainsbury's to tell them how great it is that they are doing allergy friendly chocolate coins and to beg them to keep doing them every year!

Oh and Sainsbury's also do the choices dairy free advent calendar which is a much more reasonable price than the moo free one.

DS doesn't like dairy free chocolate despite my best attempts! I think it's because he's never had chocolate, sweets, ice cream etc so finds it too sweet and prefers fruit instead. He even turned his nose up at my freefrom fruit crumble - he said he'd prefer to eat an ordinary apple thank you very much mummy! Last Christmas we bought one of those fabric advent calendars with 24 pockets and put little gifts in each one like stickers, pencils, toys, raisins etc - he loves it!

there's soy is most dairy free chocolate? I don't generally like dairy free 'milk' chocolate, has to be at least plain 55% absolute minimum.

recently found out DD is intolerant to dairy and soy but don't know if amounts in chocolate would have an effect yet.

We went and got some of the chocolate coins today. Its says they are made with rice and are gluten, egg and dairy free. DS2 is very excited about getting them in his Christmas stocking!

We had the advent calendar last year from Sainsburys. But DS2 wanted one like his brother this year - hence my post above about melting dairy free chocolate buttons! (btw, dairy free carob chocolate is a) yuck and b) doesnt melt down!!)

I am so excited about the chocolate coins! Going to go ASAP to see if my local sainsburys has any. Things like this make me really emotional :(

We got a wooden advent calendar and plan to put little toys/sweets/hair clips etc in each little insert, but I'm going to look for a chocolate calendar now! Providing they are nut free...

Actually they are "chocolate discs" so hope I haven't got anyone's hopes up. But they look enough like coins to me, are in gold and silver paper and are in a netting bag, so as far as I'm concerned they're coins!

Funnily enough, DS1 - the allergic one - isn't all that bothered. It's DD and DS2 who are younger who would like chocolate coins and chocolate advent calendars and they're not allowed to have them as it's not fair on DS1. He would definitely mind if they had them and he didn't.

I used the dairy free chocolate buttons from Asda, and they melted and reset brilliantly.

Good idea to melt and mould chocolate, hadn't thought about that before. Asda do chocolate orange dairy free buttons which are lovely.

I am doing the food for my dd's toddler group Christmas party so need to think of decent treats that all the kids can have...I did the food for the Halloween party too..nothing fancy but because it was milk, egg and nut free my dd was able to sit and eat with everyone. I could have cried when I saw her tucking in to the sandwiches and crisps!
