Convenience food for DCs with multiple allergies: which is your favourite?

Mine are (for a diet free from wheat, eggs, milk and sesame):

Orgran tinned spaghetti
M & S jars of pasta sauce (especially bolognese)
Baked beans
Tinned sardines/mackerel/tuna
Orgran rotondo biscuits (added calcium)
Combination of millet, quinoa and amaranth pops for cereal (sold separately on goodnessdirect)
Wholegrain Rice Krispies (fortified with iron and calcium)
Oatibix (for iron)
Readybrek or Tesco Hot Oat cereal (for iron and calcium)

Any others?

Difficult to beat baked beans, in my view.

And tuna for a quick cheesy tuna pasta. But beans for pure speed and predictability of DD hoovering them up.

Our favourite convenience food for CMP, egg and now nut allergic dd are...

-baked beans (she will never refuse!)
-tuna in sunflower oil with egg free mayo is fab for tuna on toast, tuna pasta etc

• tinned sweetcorn, not sure if this is a convenience food!
• frozen chips are a rare treat (I usually make my own)

Looking forward to getting other ideas!

Great idea! Our faves for milk, wheat, egg, gluten (and poss nut) free are:

-Heinz beans and sausages (thanks to pitstop for this one)
-Asda small ring-pull tins of cooked ham
-Micro Chips
-Asda smart price mild curry sauce (only 9p a jar!) mixed with coconut milk (too spicy for 4 yr old otherwise)
-tinned sardines in tomato sauce or tuna in sunflower oil
-tinned pate or sandwich paste (NOT Shippam's) and free-from crackers
-Dietary Specials white ciabatta rolls
-Innocent fruit tubes (look like Frubes yoghurts but just fruit)
-Organix tomato flavour crisps
-Asda red wine sauce (chucked over whatever meat you choose)
-Morrison's/Tesco's free from choc chip cookies
-Oatibix flakes/Oatibix/Instant hot oats (NOT suitable for gluten-free though)
-Alpro soya yoghurts
-Sainsbury's free from chicken nuggets (kids' favourite)
-Debbie & Andrew's Harrowgate sausages (a bit pricey but lovely)
-Morrison's frozen steak grills
-Asda Soup to Go chicken & veg (also NOT suitable for gluten free as contains barley)

Debbie and Andrew's sausages are The Best sausages I have ever tasted. They are bloody delicious - full of proper bits of real herbs!

Yes but only the Harrowgate ones as far as I know. Yum!

Ah, really impressed with these ideas! Especially the white ciabatta rolls -- have been looking for a decent gluten-free bread.

M & S also do gluten-free egg-free sausages which are very nice.

My favourite is Mickey Mouse shaped chicken nuggets. Probably full of crap but I don't care. DS2 gets nothing exciting. I try my best, using chocolate moulds etc, but there's not always a lot of time to 'get creative'. Food is so scary to him that I take any chance we get to make it fun .

M&S have really improved their range recently. If you have time have a little look at the labels - some of the stuff you expect to have gluten in has gluten free topping/filling or whatever.

DH is gf and some of the "puddingy" type yogurts have gluten free breadcrumbs in them such as roly poly flavour.

Also they have lovely chicken breasts in a gf breadcrumb (£3.49 for two, currently on 2 for £6)

We get through a lot of frozen rice as a base for other stuff.

There are fish fingers, I think. Have heard rumours about Sainsbury's launching GF and egg-free ones but they contain mustard powder...

M&S kids meals. There are a few such as spaghetti bol & chicken nuggets & chips that are ok for cmp & egg allergy. Nice to have in freezer as there are so few ready meals that are ok. The chicken is Oakham proper chicken. Microwave popcorn & most makes of bourbon biscuits also my lifesavers for snacks!

Fantastic thread idea! I remember micro chips from when I were a lass - the DDs will be soooo excited!

On top of the above, for dairy and egg free, I would add Miniscoff Chilli Yum Yum and Curly Wurly Chicken - very expensive, but can be cooked in the microwave from frozen and seem to be every bit as good as something I would make at home - decent amounts of meat and a good size portion (which me and DH hoover up if the girls don't eat all theirs, as they are delicious!). Think the Chilli at least is GF as well.

young's do gf fishfingers too. not sure about the mustard element, thoguh, sorry (we are gluten and dairy free)

M&S has done loads recently - there was gf stuffing last Chrsitmas, the chicken in gf breadcrumbs is really yummy. one of their children's ready meals (nice rice chicken) is gf and dairy free, and handy for a quick meal.

we use Black Farmer sausages - really yummy.

for food to have in , ready to go, you can't beat Clive's Pies -here. I order form Goodness Direct, and it is all really delicious. the pies are unbelievable - have never eaten gf like it.

oh yes, the miniscoff chilli is ace. dd1 loves it (and had it today for lunch at school)

silverfrog - thanks for the pie link. DH has been gf since a small baby (all his hair fell out he was very malnourished as a result - he's fine now!). Anyway, he is a bit fascinated with pies, not really having eaten them at all apart from the occasional Dietary Specials one in the last year or two.

I may order a selection for his birthday in a few weeks.
and he also wants some gf lager!

Sainsburys Free From Fishfingers are GF.

This is a great thread garlic, I'm just about to start checking out these lists for our list of allergies (nut, egg, dairy and soya.)

At the moment I use baked beans or kiddylicious ready made meals for our DD. And some own brands of chicken slices with egg free Mayo and home made bread (can't find soya free bread anywhere.)
And rice krispies, weetabix or ready brek for cereals.

Now I'm hoping I've found some more options, fingers crossed!

Chocamum, tescos & m&s both do soya free bread. The Tesco ones are the granary baguette and the Wheatfield Bakery wholemeal Farmhouse. Th m&s one is the White crusty loaf.

Heinz Steak and potato big soup (GF) is a fav standby here. Amys Veg Bean Burritos (frozen cook in 2-3 mins)

M & S sausages, Co-op Irresistable burgers (current 2 for £4 (have GF crumb in them) Ross Frozen burgers

New Uncle Bens rice pot things, sweet and sour and chilli - both GF/Veg

Just reviving this thread since I've bought a few things that DS seems to like:

Dietary Specials breadsticks
Sainsbury's free from flapjacks
popcorn with loads of melted Vitalite poured on top

And tomorrow I'm going to try Sainsbury's free from rich tea biscuits, though I tried two myself today and they're really quite sickly. Still, it's not often you find GF, WF, DF and EF stuff....

I've recently discovered Morisson's 'Baked In Store' Poppy & Sunflower Seed bread - Dairy, egg & soya free. Also Morisson's pre-popped sweet popcorn also contains no soya or diary. DS2 loves them!
