spod it sounds like your consultant is a paediatrician with an interest in allergy. Any chance you could be referred to an allergy consultant? Although some doctors with an interest are very good they aren't IMHO, quite the same, especially over things like age at which they will test.

You could try keeping her off egg but then trying gluten. I'd give her probiotics daily for two weeks first (and while you do the trial). Oats cause fewest problems and should be tried first. If you try those and she is ill don't go on to anything else!

From what you describe I suspect the problem is not gluten as such (so she will improve with age) but a general gut problem and possibly mild dehydration.

My DS had his first challenge at about 18mths. It probably is more difficult to get the younger omes to consume the allergen but our first one was OK cos it was cow's milk which he drank quite happily from his bottle.

He was not given a skin prick test untill he was 5yrs old and this further informs their challenge.

Our consultant also explained that one of the problems with food challenges is that a child is more likely to grow out of their allergy if there is complete exclusion for as long as possible and a challenge neccessairly introduces the allergen to the child which may possibly delay the outgrowing of the allergy. I get the impression from the consultant that little is really known about allergies.
