Dairy free - how long before I would expect to notice a difference?

I am currently trying out dairy free.

I have psoraisis on my scalp and a couple of other areas. I also get bloatedness and an upset tummy quite a lot (at least 1-2 times a week), have dark shadows under my eyes most of the time and have patches of dry/sre skin.

Someone mentioned dairy can be an issue so I decided to give it a try.

I am now on day 6 of dairy free. I am also taking aloe vera juice a couple of times a week as the osteopath (currently suffering a very sore neck/shouder/head) and on day 3 of that.

I haven't any bloatedness in that time and no upset tummy/sickness. Not sure if I have noticed any difference in the psoraisis though and still have very dry hands and feet.

When should I start to notice a difference, if any?

I have gone dairy free as I bf my ds who is dairy allergic. Slightly different scenario I know but within 48 hours I had noticed a difference in the skin on his face where he had direct contact with the bm and about 2 weeks before I saw a complete change in the condition of his skin and a change in his stools and just generally more settled.

It takes about 2weeks for all traces of milk [protein] to go completely.
How diligent are you on avoiding dairy? It's put into so many things, you really do have to read all the labels on everything!
Hope you get sorted soon.

I have been reading labels on shop bought items. Eating out I have been trying to do best I can, trying to figure out which things are likely to not have dairy in, choosing plainest thing possible and avoiding sauces, etc.

Hardest bit is not having a hot drink after a eal out as so few places have soya milk.

Have to admit though that yesterday at a buffet there was nothing that wasn't dairy free at all - sandwiches, quiche, pastries. I did give in to hunger and had 3 quarter sandwiches figuring they'd only have a tiny bit of spread on them. Not good but it was that or not eating! That was day 12 of 14.

TBH not sure on changes. My psoraisis does look a little better but that could equally be the aloe vera juice I have been taking too.

Have noticed though that have had no upset tummy, etc in this past fortnight though.

As others have said, you need to check for whey powder and lactose (although this can sometimes be vegetable) in ingredients. You know this already though, I'm sure.

I am trying to figure it all out. Although I am still unconvinced really. Might ebe better trying to get an allergy test referral tbh!

Cutting out dairy's a great thing for your health anyway. http://www.vegetarian.org.uk/campaigns/whitelies/index.html/report01.html is worth a read. Good luck! :)
