Anyone been treated at James Paget, Addenbrooke's or Colchester?

Been referred for further allergy testing for DS1 (who has eczema and multiple food allergies), as we've moved to Norfolk we have been offered the choice of James Paget, Addenbrooke's or Colchester paediatric allergy depts.

Just wondered if anyone had been treated at any of these and had good/bad experiences?

Addenbrookes, was brilliant.

I only have experience of Addenbrooks but since their advice saved my DS I would give them a big thumbs up. It is a HUGE hospital though.

Addenbrookes is a world leader on allergies - recent ground breaking work on peanut allerigies and desensitisation for example

throckenholt · 28/04/2011 17:57

I don't know anything about the allergy depts, but general thoguhts. Addenbrookes is huge and the regional centre so would expect the most specialists - if you go there, park at the park and ride nearby - much cheaper and easier.

James Padget is probably the smallest of the 3 (and the closest).

Nothing at Norwich ?

No paed allergy specialist at the Norfolk & Norwich apparently. Addenbrooke's is furthest from us but I don't mind travelling for the best treatment.

I also had allergy testing there for something very dramatic (not peanuts but it might as well have been) and saw Dr Nasser who was absolutely fantastic and well regarded around here, I can tell you.

Thanks again, I will definitely go for Addenbrooke's I think.

James Paget is my local hospital, its very good and you'll probably find the consultant for allergies also works at the other hospitals too.

Al0uiseG · 28/04/2011 23:03

Addenbrookes definitely.

Addenbrookes is where Dr Clarke is who is leading the peanut densistisation trial, I'd add another vote for Addenbrookes...
