was just reading through the allergies board over the weekend and read a comment that it is unusual to be just allergic to one thing.

I hadn't heard this before and wondered if its generally considered to be true?

DD reacts on contact to dairy and RAST tests have come back positive to cows milk. She has been tested for the other common allergens all of which have come back negative. I know RAST testing is not everything but it doesn't look (so far at least) that she has any other allergies.

hoping that we don't have any surprises lurking round the corner ....

I'm sure you can be allergic to just one thing - there is such a range in terms of how allergies present.

Not that I really know though!

I think that was my comment...

DD's consultant told me that it was unusual to be allergic to just one thing (and that CMP allergy e.g. increases risk of peanut allergy). But since dd does only have one allergy, it is of course entirely possible. Sounds like your DD is the same.

hi blameit, it may well have been your comment :)

thinking back a couple of years, the consultant at the time said that DD should be kept on a nut free diet for now and in fact children in general should keep away from nuts until they're 5.

so DD at nearly 4 has never had anything nut related in her life and to be honest I am very wary of introducing them just in case!

fingers crossed she only has to deal with CMP allergy as so far it is showing no signs of going away, in fact more the opposite :(
