DD is 4.7. She is allergic to eggs. She has been aware of it for ages and always checks if something is ok to eat.

However in the last few weeks she has become really anxious about it. She asks me over and over again if a food is ok to eat - even things she has always been fine with.

We went to a friend's house last weeka and she refused to eat anything.

Yesterday we were at a party and it was the same. She just refused everything she was offered, even the cake I had made specially and brought with us.

She hasn't had a reaction recently so no reason to be extra scared now.

Has anyone any advice?

Thanks

Sad for your dd.

DS1 has outgrown his egg allergy now (he's 5) but he was pretty anxious about it sometimes. Sometimes he would come home from nursery having not had any snack because he wasn't sure if there was egg in it or not and didn't want or think to ask.

He was fairly interested in letters and reading, and was able to recognise the word "egg". If it was something from a packet, we would look at it together if he was anxious about it. If it was something I made from scratch, I would tell him everything that I put into it.

How did you deal with her not eating anything at the friends house? DS1 often seemed to not be hungry, and I tried to not make a big deal of it if he wouldn't eat "strange" food. But I know it's easier said than done and sometimes, other people don't help with their "ooooh, go on, ooooh, it's delicious, try a bit, oooooh, but you don't know what it's like til you try it, ooooh, go on, go on, go on" Angry
