Drinking alone...

May I ask if you enjoy drinking alcohol alone as a way to relax? Be honest...Bottle of wine when everyone is in bed? Few drinks after a hard day as a relax but then don't touch it for a few weeks? I am so genuinely interested.

Yes at the weekend. Maybe a couple of glasses of wine or a spirit & mixer. Never drunk. Never a whole bottle of wine for example.

I used to enjoy having a couple of glasses of wine every evening, as a sign to myself that my day’s work was over. Daily, but not excessive, drinking was a habit I acquired from my family, and it was the same whether I was alone or someone else was there. It did help me relax I’m sure. Since I started living completely alone (just two dogs for company), I am naturally much more relaxed as I do everything at my own pace and to my own standards - so I’ve taken the opportunity to stop the daily drinking. It’s fine, much cheaper, and headache free.

No. As a cancer survivor I drink sparingly.

I have adapted to finding joy in healthy not too sweet non alcoholic drinks with ice.

I used to do this weekly. Loved it. I am teetotal now because it got worse and worse. It’s not healthy. It’s trying to numb yourself to something and it is damaging your brain, health and mind.

I can’t imagine anything worse than being drunk now. There’s nothing so nice as a crisp mind at 7am.

I like drinking alone more than drinking with anyone else!

It is a bad habit for health reasons so I have tried to make it a not so often thing, but It's one of the luxuries of solitary living to me.

I live on my own, and mostly eat at home. I have a G&T every evening before dinner. Occasionally I’ll have half a bottle of wine. So yes, I regularly drink alone.

I don't drink anymore but Iused to enjoy drinking alone, maybe a bottle over 3 evenings.
My issue wasn't my drinking alone on a quiet friday night, it was more the 3 glasses of wine, 3 beers and 2 g&t on a saturday night and the subsequent hangover. Alone, I don't drink much, but with people my off-switch is not very reliable.

I used to prefer drinking alone, a couple of glasses of wine and chilling at home a few times a month. Don't drink at all now and I do miss it

I live alone, and I have Friday Night Wine. I really look forward to it. I have my dinner, then open up a nice crisp white wine and drink two glasses. Occasionally I finish the bottle, but rarely. If there is any left, I will finish it on Saturday night.

Rarely I might have a glass of whisky, or if it's a very hot day, a glass of cider.

I’ve really lost my taste for alcohol over the years and now age 51 only drink when I’m out (& don’t always then unless it’s a big night out like a party) or if we’re entertaining. It just wouldn’t cross my mind to drink at home on my own. My guilty pleasure is the odd Diet Coke otherwise I’m happier with a cup of coffee or tea.
