Has anyone either taken mounjaro specifically to curb their drinking, or taken it for weightloss and found it made them drink less?

Took it for weight loss for 5 months and didn't want alcohol the whole time I was on it

Interesting - did you drink much before you went on it?

There is a lot of work being done in this area at the
moment, I was invited to take part in a trial but couldn’t make it work with early morning appointments in central London. So I started myself, just on 2.5 at the moment and have definitely noticed a decline in cravings. They are there but not as strong. I made a conscious decision to have a drink last night and curbed it at 3 pints - would normally do 6 in a session ( possibly more) so I am hopeful. Especially when I tritate up to 5.

I have who drinks a lot (a bottle of wine most days, often more). A high functioning alcoholic I guess as she’s very competent! She’s on mounjaro and it’s made no difference- she’s lost weight as she doesn’t eat as much, but she drinks as much as ever .

That’s good to hear. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I would drink a bottle of wine on Friday and another on Saturday usually

I would also like to add that I didn't lose a lot of weight on it in that time either.....17lbs

Just over lb a week is pretty good going & you won’t have trashed your metabolism :)

Might be worth you having a look at a drug called Naltrexone, I got it from a company called choose nul. The drug stops you from feeling any of the pleasurable feelings you get from booze, helps to break the habit. I went from drinking 3-4 nights per week to once every few weeks . Not cheap hit cheaper than Mounjaro and breaks the habit psychologically
