Low level drinking during pregnancy

Hello,

Did anyone have the occasional wine during pregnancy after finding out they were pregnant? I had three isolated glasses of wine after I found out and sipped slowly. My baby is now one, however I can’t seem to shake the anxiety that there has been long term damage. He is happy and healthy and no real concerns but I just feel like a bad mum. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Three glasses of wine will not harm baby so you should set aside that guilt and just enjoy being a mum! I chose not to drink but thats my choice, in many countries it’s quite common. Don’t beat yourself up, if you were having alcohol regularly then that can become a huge problem but in your circumstance I think you shouldn’t feel guilty, your little boy is happy and healthy!

When I was pregnant the guidelines were 1-2 units 1-2 times a week. There is no evidence that low levels of occasional drinking harms a fetus. I think the guidelines were revised not as evidence of harm were found at low levels but because it’s easier to handle problematic drinker.
