Path 1. Continue drinking. Will lead to total destruction.

Path 2 accept what has happened and build a new life

Acceptance is very powerful @slidingdoorsthepathnottaken.
I really really hope you can take path 2.
Any way any of us could help?

EggandStress · 01/09/2025 14:08

Do you have support if you choose option 2 @slidingdoorsthepathnottaken

TaupeMember · 01/09/2025 14:09

Would you like to speak a bit about what it is you need to try and accept?

summitfever · 01/09/2025 14:15

Don’t fear an alcohol free life op, it really is rather peaceful. Make sure you have a bank of other coping strategies to hand and build a support network if you don’t have one already, including medically assisted recovery if needed. Your people become your power. You can do it OP. Good luck!

ThejoyofNC · 01/09/2025 14:24

Why do you need to accept what has happened OP? Is there nothing that can be done?

Onesie123 · 01/09/2025 14:42

I vote path 2, it sounds perfect.

This was the exact realisation that led me into AA nearly 12 years ago.

If you call them now they will find a local lady who’s also in recovery who can talk to you and hopefully take you to a meeting.

You can build a new, alcohol free life OP.
Whatever has happened, you don't have to 'fix' it all today. All things can be righted and dealt with.

@slidingdoorsthepathnottaken i was reading an article about Naltrexone this morning - they likened it to Mounjaro in terms of quietening food noise but for alcohol. Is this something you could investigate on a private prescription to give you an added level of support as you start to navigate an AF life?

I hope you’re ok. Path 2 is easier with support. We can listen if you want to talk. 💐
