Do I have an issue with alcohol

So, my partner seems to think I have!

I like a drink, I don't get excessively drunk. Usually drink a bottle of wine on Friday evening and most likely Saturday evening too. If I have more in the house I will drink it, I have no self control. I will only buy 1-2 bottles a week on the shop. Occasionally I do pop to the shop for another.

I've not been feeling great lately so probably have been drinking more than normal

There are many people who will tell you it's fine as you're having several alcohol free nights but I do think it's excessive. A bottle of wine would count as binge drinking and I think you'd feel better if you only had a glass.

do you trust you partner
love him
trust that he cares for you

in which case, i’d be inclined to trust his view rather than anonymous posters giving their view on the basis of your outline of your drinking intake

One of the hallmarks of alcohol abuse disorder is the lack of an "off switch" when you've had a moderate amount. If you can't stop once you've started, you have a problem with alcohol.

It is a reasonable amount and probably more than is recommended in one sitting, though of course not as much as many people. I am sober now, but I drank more regularly than you before deciding I had a problem - I would drink a bottle of wine most nights at the height of my drinking......

I am interested that it's your partner that has flagged it up.

Usually if a friend, family member or partner has concerns about your drinking that's a big warning sign that your drinking is problematic.

However, it can also be used by some men as an accusation in order to shame and control the woman.....

Does your partner drink at all? I would find it significant if he drinks yet objects to your drinking.....

You've answered your own question.

Yes he does drink but certainly not to excess. He may have a glass or two on a Friday and Saturday night.

I can't seem to just have one glass. Feels a bit of a downward spiral at the moment

Yeah I do trust him but I was just wondering if he was being a bit over cautious about it just because he doesn't really drink much

Name change fail OP?

I read once that if you worry that you have a problem then yes, you do. It was true in my case. I think deep down you will know if you do.
