Made it to day 7!

I've known I needed to cut down for a long time, but the thought of a weekend without wine was almost impossible to fathom.
But this morning (Monday) I made it to day 7.
This included 3 big functions which I stayed completely dry for.
Day 6 was undoubtedly the worst, I could hardly keep my eyes open, the headache was awful. Dare I say it, it was slightly easier than I thought, I just took an overly stubborn stance and refused to budge.
I'm not aiming to stop, just Circuit break the habit.

Thats great, especially when there were functions. Well done!

Play it forward. If you drink, will you be less stressed the next morning? I very much doubt it, you'll have had a crap night's sleep at best, be hungover at worst.

Alternatives to having a drink, depending on time and mood:

  • meet up with a friend for a chat, or even just phone them
  • have a bath
  • curl up with a book or magazine or chilled and funny TV series. Some quit lit maybe?
  • go out for a walk or do an exercise video or some weights.

Drinking doesn't ultimately make stressful stuff better, it makes it worse. But you need to adapt to thinking things through sober, and learning to have uncomfortable feelings rather than block them out.

You can do it. You've done 11 days, don't spoil it now!

Keep hydrated!! You might think you're craving alcohol but actually you're just thirsty. Try something like fruit squash which is easy to drink a pint of. Wait a while and then see if the craving has lessened. Remember cravings last less time than a hangover!

You can do this.
Getting to day 11 was brilliant.
Getting to day 12 is just one more day.

Having a drink won't stop the stress, it'll just make it harder with a hangover.
As pp said, do something positive and as relaxing as possible to do instead.

You CAN do this, you're already doing it.

Day 12 🎉
I'm fully hydrated I drink a huge amount anyway. Had been to the gym and reading an awesome book.
Just was desperate for a wine!
