We're cancelling our AI two week holiday as there's too much temptation regards drinks. Anyone found a good alternative? Two adults only xx

Somewhere in the Middle East where the alcohol is stupidly expensive and not as readily available?

Or one of the expensive Nordic countries?

Something like horse trekking or hiking so you are busy/ tired doing something different and thirsty for water rather than booze.

A road trip so you don’t want to drink drive?

My first sober holiday was a spa break. It wasn't planned because I was sober. It was more just dh said, let's book a holiday somewhere relaxing and I just happened to be newly sober. It was lovely. 2 afternoons at the spa, nice meals at the hotel or local restaurants with really lovely food (I checked in advance for AF options and there were loads). Time at the beach, coastal walks, reading. It was absolutely lovely. I cried on the drive home because I just wanted to stay. It was honestly the nicest holiday I've been on in a long time.

Dh does still drink, so he had some drinks, but that was no big deal and I didn't miss it. Actually, we were walking home from dinner one evening and came upon a guy drunk and being sick over someone's garden wall and I felt pretty smug and pleased with myself about feeling all fresh after my AF fizz heading home from a lovely dinner for a cup of peppermint tea before bed. 😂

My second sober holiday was walking part of the camino de santiago in Spain. It is something people often associate with having drinks in the evening after a long day of walking. But there are so many AF options in Spain and I didn't even think about alcohol. I was busy and walking all day and then in the evening, just ready to chill and relax.

Most cruise ships have AA meetings every afternoon. I think they call them ‘friends of Arthur’ or something similar. You probably don’t want to be mixing with lots of people because then they will start ordering rounds.
