Hi, folks.
Our last thread is full so I've started this new one. I've kept the title familiar so we can all find it.
I'll try to tag as many people as possible, if you can, too, that would be great !
I'm sure we'll all find each other ❤️

So.....day 10 here and I'm feeling great, really. I was reminded ( and guilt lessened) when I started this new thread that my intention was initially to moderate.
I suppose I have come to the conclusion ( via our last thread) that Absolutely Abstaining is best for me. Whether I can do it or not, is a different matter.
I think if I can aim for 27 af days in January, that will be a great result.
Overall, feeling happy and positive.
And definitely looking forward to the weekend.

Hi all, wondering if I can join this thread? I haven't found the previous thread but will do. NC'd for this so it's not linked to any of my previous threads.
Told my OH on Monday I was worried about how often I drink, not so much how much but the fact it's every night, OH rarely drinks only the odd occasion. My bio dad was an alcoholic and I think I'm on a slippery slope. I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this but I'm hoping so.

I need to find the willpower not to pour that first glass every night 😔

Amdone123 · 10/01/2024 05:40

Hi @Hello2024 , of course you can join, more than welcome !
Do you mind me asking what you drink, and how much ?
I don't drink every night, I'm more of a binge drinker and wine is my poison ( literally ! ).
Do you have an idea of what your ideal would be?
Weekend only ?

Morning, just marking my place in the new thread - thanks for the tag @Amdone123 !

@Hello2024 Hello!!! And welcome, you will find a lot of support here.

Day 11 for me! Early start today, I am really NOT a morning person but they are much easier to cope with if I haven't had a drink the night before.

Hello2024 · 10/01/2024 06:37

Thanks @Amdone123 my go to every night is wine, normally 2 large glasses but if its been "one of those days" the bottle. Mon night I had 1 glass and last night finished the bottle.
I haven't really worked out my ideal, but probably it would be just on occasions or out for a meal, pretty much not every night at home.
I'm determined not to buy a single bottle this year. I have 4 bottles left from gifts that need to be gone, I don't think I'm quite ready to just drop the crutch completely.

Amdone123 · 10/01/2024 06:47

@Hello2024 no problem.
So, Monday 1 glass and last night 2 glasses.
I think it's good that you can spread it out, so to speak. But, yes, I understand what you're saying - to give yourself ( and your liver), a break for, say 2 evenings, would be a good start.
( I'm no expert, just too much experience 😩).

If I have it in, I drink it, so you've more self control than me.

AF#9 Clears the path for better things

I'm actually quite excited that I am so close to double figures now, and I am feeling better with an afternoon off today and a day off tomorrow!

Well done on day 11 @Freezingfeetwarmheart !

Hello2024 · 10/01/2024 06:57

The only reason I didn't drink more on Mon was down to me telling OH I think I have a problem with it. He says I drink moderately but agrees every night is a problem. Also on days I WFH from around lunchtime all I think about is that 1st glass if wine. I saw the affects of my bio dad and grandad I really don't want to go down that road, but know myself the habit is already there.
There have been times I've drank 3 bottles, but that happens rarely.

Bigbus · 10/01/2024 07:21

It looks like we have two threads now @Amdone123 because swannyb also started a new one. Can we combine them in some way?

Amdone123 · 10/01/2024 07:24

@Bigbus oh I didn't know ! 🤣
I'm easy - so long as we're all together 😆
