I gave up alcohol! Never thought I could do it or that life would be soo much better without it!
I'm feeling very proud of myself - a year ago I was feeling that life wasn’t worth living any more and my only enjoyment in life was from Sauvignon Blanc.
I'm now feeling fitter, 39 pounds lighter (well I was before Christmas 🎄🐷), my chronic pain is better controlled and I’ve been told by more than one person that I look 10 years younger (I’m 56 so that’s very welcome). My DD says I’ve had a glow-up! My fatty liver also appears to have reversed thankfully 🤞

Well done, that’s great. How did you do it?

2023forme · 26/12/2023 19:51

Good for you!!! That is my aim - I’ve stopped counting but estimate I am just shy of 5 months sober

Oncewassmith · 26/12/2023 19:58

I really want to be you! My drinking has crept up and up over the years due to lots of crap! How did you do it? What motivated you?

clarepetal · 26/12/2023 19:59

That's great, well done you!

SaltySeaCat · 26/12/2023 20:12

Thank you everyone!
I forgot to mention that my anxiety has gone from 10/10 to 1/10 too!
I was motivated by the fact I felt so awful. I drank to self-medicate my chronic pain and to help (or so I thought) with my anxiety.
I was drinking 5 bottles of wine a week on average - more on holiday/over Christmas etc.
I read lots of quit lit and still listen to some of it on repeat on Audible when I’m in bed. I replaced my alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic ones - mainly 0% cider and Nosecco at parties.
