Hit me with your favourites please. I really want to feel like I'm not missing out at Christmas and NY. Also can I theoretically drink as much as I like with no worries about getting drunk / hungover etc? Are they really AF?

I've never found a decent wine. The only drink that doesnt make you feel like you're 'missing out' imo is bud lime. Heineken comes a bit second. I've tried the gins and the whiskeys and they're crap.

I think mockails might be a better bet maybe.

Forestspark · 19/12/2023 21:47

Hi OP

I find Nosecco a really good Prosecco AF version, and tanqueray seville 0% plus Gordon's pink gin 0% with tonic are also good. Previously I only ever drank wine, no spirits and rarely Prosecco but find the ones mentioned a good substitute. Unfortunately have never found a good AF wine

I've drank loads of both these and not felt at all drunk. Enjoy!

PiggieWig · 19/12/2023 21:49

I’ve yet to find a decent AF wine but some of the AF gins are nice - even just the Gordon’s one.

ODFOx · 19/12/2023 21:51

I'm enjoying Lidl mulled fruit punch at the moment.
And I like Gordon's 0% all year round : it isn't exactly like gin but it has a kick and tastes nice with a mixer. I recommend elderflower presse and a splash of lime cordial over ice.

Candleabra · 19/12/2023 21:54

I think the 0% Proseccos are the least offensive option. The bubbles detract from the taste and it feels festive.
I just say, I never feel great after drinking it though, almost hangovery, I don’t know what processes they use to produce it or if it’s psychosomatic. I just have schloer in a champagne glass now,

Hohofortherobbers · 19/12/2023 21:56

0% wines are foul. However I quite like Belvoir mulled punch, 30secs in the microwave, I can convince myself it's a full bodied shiraz or malbec. Bud zero is my beer of choice.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 19/12/2023 21:58

They're all crap and the beers aren't much better.

Make a mojito and just don't put the rum in it. Much better.

ZiggyZowie · 19/12/2023 21:59

Shloer grape juice , I've bought white, red and rose

Onewildandpreciouslife · 19/12/2023 22:16

I have a couple of AF roses I like - Sainsburys own and McGuigans (although the McGuigans has a slight spritz to it which makes me very gassy).

PaddyIrishWoman · 19/12/2023 22:17

McGuigans is the nicest I've come across

SleepingisanArt · 19/12/2023 22:18

Not found a decent AF wine and found the Nosecco unbelievably sweet. Some of the 0% gins are OK. If you like beer the 0% San Miguel is not bad.

I'd rather drink mocktails, there are some excellent recipes around and they aren't all just fruit juice or full of sugar. A friend likes elderflower cordial in sparkling or soda water which she drinks from a champagne flute.

HareSong · 19/12/2023 22:44

Freixenet 0% is the best no-alcohol wine I’ve found. It’s sparkling, and drier in taste than Nosecco (which just reminds me of Aqua Libra!). I’ve not found any decent alcohol free still wines.

Becks Blue is my go-to alcohol free lager. It’s got a real hoppy bite

MadamVastra · 20/12/2023 00:53

Guinness 0 is excellent and also the robinsons lime and mint cordial is a great alternative for a mojito

Ibex22 · 20/12/2023 01:08

They're all foul. The 0% beers are much better

Mediumred · 20/12/2023 01:12

The M&S fizzero is really nice!

Iwanttheraintostop · 20/12/2023 07:20

I like Freixenet 0% too - it is much drier than others. For non-sparkling wine I like Fre-red - I was a Chardonnay drinker and I can't find any AF white ones I like but this red is quite nice and will go nicely with Christmas dinner.

wineosaurus4 · 20/12/2023 07:31

I was pregnant 2 Christmases ago and can recommend Freixenet, it is the best AF wine I found Smile Most taste really sweet.

jackstini · 20/12/2023 08:10

The sparkling ones are the only inoffensive ones

Eisberg do a AF mulled wine this year which is ok

I've never found a decent red or white AF wine.
How we can get people into space but can't produce a decent AF Chardonnay I don't know...
I would gladly pay good money for one

Agree the gins are not too bad

QueSyrahSyrah · 20/12/2023 08:13

Noughty Red is the best AF alternative I've found. It gives that little acidic kick at first sip that real wine does. Just a shame it costs more than I'd usually spend on real wine!

Otherwise if you drink beer or cider then Heineken 0 and Thatchers 0 are both good.

QueSyrahSyrah · 20/12/2023 08:14

@jackstini I say that all the time!! Men on the moon but no decent alcohol free wine! Science is wasting time on the wrong things Grin

caramac04 · 20/12/2023 08:16

I quite like Shloer, it’s sweeter than wine I would choose but it’s still a good substitute for me.
Aldi and Lidl do dupes. I like the Lidl one. The Aldi one is a bit too sweet for me but it’s ok.
No after effects.

Greyscale1 · 20/12/2023 08:49

I found the best one was Natureo which you can get in waitrose. Not the cheapest though...

QueSyrahSyrah · 20/12/2023 09:38

Greyscale1 · 20/12/2023 08:49

Oh I'd forgotten that brand. Natureo Rosé is very good.

Cheesestring67 · 24/12/2023 08:03

My absolute favourite is Friexnet sparkling rose. Tastes just like prosecco 😍 that nosecco tastes like pop to me

PieAndLattes · 25/12/2023 05:41

AF ciders are probably better. The best I’ve found is the bottled version of Sainsbury’s own brand. It’s very refreshing served cold over ice. Most of the others are too sweet.
