Those “hangover free” drinks

I’m stopping drinking alcohol and wondered about the alcohol-free drinks you see advertised that claim to give you a “buzz” but no hangover.
How can they do that? They must have drugs in right?
I’m nervous about trying one in case I just swap one addiction for another.
Also if you really want to get sober you shouldn’t need anything to give you a “high” or help you “relax” in the evening.
Just wondered what people thought really.

They don’t give you a buzz at all in my experience

I haven’t seen any alcohol free drink adverts which they say give you a buzz. Do you have any names? Is it just sugar and caffeine? I’m intrigued.

I think you mean drinks like Three spirits, there is an abundance of CBD drinks now in the supermarkets. I agree they don't really give you a buzz, they are very expensive.

I didn’t want to name any as this is a public forum, but there’s one that means a number and another that means stumble or fall. People commenting that they “feel amazing”. There are also calming, nightcap drinks too. They also claim to be “natural” whatever that means!

CBD is cannabis isn’t it? I really don’t want to go down that path! I don’t think they’re suitable for people like me who couldn’t control their drinking and decided to stop.

It would be very difficult to get addicted to CBD, (maybe impossible- you’d need to check the research) especially the amount found in those drinks! I found a nice ginger and turmeric one in morrisons that was quite relaxing. None of them are anything like alcohol though.
I read an article a few years ago on research into a consequences-free alcohol but haven’t read anything since so assume they havent found the right formula yet(or it’s been suppressed by the drinks industry)!

Do you mean like trip?

I have one of those every day.

Cbd isn't the same as cannabis.

CBD is non-addictive. It’s not the “exciting” bit of cannabis

Trip is just CBD, which people take for all sorts of things - I know people who give it to their dogs for joint aches. I do drink them, because I like them and I use CBD oil anyway for sleep/anxiety. I don't think they do anything, but they are a nice tasting grown up alternative.

There is also Sentia, which is a GABA drink. I'm not sure it does much either, perhaps just placebo, but I quite like the taste of it as not sweet or fizzy.

I've not found a drink that makes you feel like you've had alcohol. It's all just marketing. Drink them if you like them though.
